Creation of STS Productions
When looking up the definition of strive the first result that came up was “to make great efforts to achieve or obtain something”.
As I was figuring out what STS would stand for I chose “Strive” because it represents the strength I have to become a better version of myself whether its mentally, physically or financially. Choosing the word struggles came fairly quick as I thought it would best represent the concealed parts of my life. I combined both words together to make Strive Through Struggles which to me, means that you have to use your struggles/setbacks as motivation to achieve something great.
For as long as I could remember, I’ve always loved exploring new places and taking pictures along the way creating something important to me. Photography has allowed me to tell my story. Not through words but with the pictures I take.
About me (Sham)
I was born and raised in The Bronx, New York. While I was growing up, I have experienced and seen numerous struggles in the community around me. It could’ve been something as small as seeing syringes on every corner. Or something as large as mental health issues with everyone around me losing their life at an early age. Through this, it led me to wonder what would be the next step in life since growing old didn’t seem possible in my community. However one random day during the pandemic in 2020, I saw something that would only exist with great Photoshop skills: seeing Times Square empty. Seeing this with my own eyes made me feel amazed at how a pandemic could turn one of the most popular places in America empty. Of course, I took photos as this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Unfortunately, the photos taken were lost but the memories still live in my head. Fast forward 2 years later and I decided to go upstate for college. Through college, I joined the Photography Club to share my work and to get feedback for improvement in future photos. Since joining the club I’ve had 3 pieces of work published in the Art & Scope Magazine (Fall 2022 & Spring 2023, Fall 2023 and Spring 2024).
